Yellow: "of the colour between green and orange in the [visible light] spectrum..." -Oxford Dictionaries

History:

Yellow was first discovered on Yellow Ochres, which have limonite (the main ingredient for color). It was extracted, then used for painting bodies, structures, and pottery. It was one of the first pigments used by humans (this goes way back to ancient Egyptian times).

The color yellow has different meanings around the world. In Western culture, as we know it, yellow symbolizes happiness, optimism, and hope.

 In France, it symbolizes jealousy, betrayal, and weakness. During the 10th century, if there were any criminals or traitors, their doors would be painted yellow.

 In China, yellow is associated with pornography. They would call it "yellow pictures", "yellow book", or "yellow movies".

 In African nations, yellow was only used for people with high status because the color is close to gold. Gold means money and wealth, therefore it is reserved only for those with high ranking. Egyptians, for example, painted mummies and tombs before they sent them to the afterlife.

 In Japan, yellow represents bravery and wealth.

 In Thai culture, it represents luck of Monday. To them, Monday is the luckiest day of the week. This goes way back to 1946 when King Bhumibol had the throne.

Yellow flowers:

Yellow roses symbolize friendship, joy, and good health. They are a perfect gift when it is their birthday, when they are having a bad day, or just because. I choose roses specifically because they are my second favorite type of flower (super cliche, but whatever).

My absolute favorite flower is a carnation  The reason why I love carnations so much is because of the famous painting Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose by John Singer Sargent. I was ready to include yellow carnations in my magazine and photo shoot, but when I did some research...

As you can see, I cannot add this to my magazine since it would completely contradict my purpose. But knowing the meaning, I'll probably give some to my friends as an inside joke.
